Push through with paper technique again, this time with blue brocade printed paper. It's a little hard to see in this one...
It's a little easier to see the brocade details here

I think I like this slit and pull through method. Here I recycled some printed dye sheets from another project, slit one and then layered them to get this effect. What do you think of if?
This is the reverse side of the test image for the purple swirl. Let me know if you like this one better or the one below it. (the front side) Thanks!
The front of the test piece for the purple and green swirl, don't know if I like the front or the back better, let me know what you think...
Working with Kraft paper can be fun. Check out Memory on Cloth by Yoshida? Wada. Go to Amazon or someplace like that where you can get a good used copy instead of paying the new price of $80.00. She has a whole section for sublimation, and I used one of her techniques to do this piece.

Stitched Shibori

This is a piece of silk which was vat dyed, then stitched, dyed again, then wadded up and dyed twice for depth of color.

Stitched Shibori

Stitched shibori on silk crepe, vat dyed.

Sublimation Dyed Velvet

I used screenprinted images which were then transferred to the velvet by sublimation.

Sublimation Dyed Existing Polyester Scarf

Using a dye printer, this existing brown scarf was overdyed with the brocade pattern.

Sublimation Dyed Polyester Scarf

Using sublimation dyes & heat press, polyester dyed and sewn into a scarf.

Arashi Shibori Pleated Silk Scarf

A pole wrapped silk scarf (after vat dying) left to retain its pleats.

Detail of Stitched Black Rayon

Here's a close-up of the large stitched, discharged black rayon piece.

Stitched Shibori

Another Stitched piece discharged with Thiox. Same black rayon, but the thiox discharged it to this grey color whereas the bleach discharge gave an orangey color.

Discharged Arashi Shibori - Horizontal

Black Rayon pole wrapped horizontally then discharged with thickened bleach. This wrap took several hours to do and came of the pole in a pleated mass. You can see where the edges of the fabric overlapped on the pole...

Discharged Arashi Shibori

A black rayon fabric which I pole wrapped, then discharged with thickened bleach. I liked it so much that I reversed the direction and did the whole thing again.

Arashi Shibori

Arashi Shibori - I really liked how the woodgrain effect began to happen in the lower left corner.

Stitched Shibori

By sewing by hand across the ends of this scarf, then gathering the fabric, the overdying shows this interesting pattern.

Shibori Clamp Style

Shibori Clamp Style, I just dipped it in different dyes which resulted in the color blending.

First Shibori

My very first Shibori piece Arashi Style. Who knew that several years later I would still be doing this.
